Writing Sample

PANEL 1: PERLA stands in front of her children. VIOLETTA (Highschool senior) ROSA
(High school junior), BLANCA (Middle school) and NACHO (Fourth grade).
Violetta and Rosa are on their phones, Nacho is playing video games, and Blanca is jotting down in a notebook. None of them are really paying attention.

PERLA
I have something to tell you kids.



PANEL 2:  Close up with dramatic lighting.  

PERLA
You’re father and I are divorcing.

PANEL 3: None of the kids seem to care. All still glued to their respective device/notebook.

PANEL 4: Perla is surprised by the children’s apathy to the announcement.

PERLA
Didn’t you hear what I said?

VIOLETTA
You two have been separated for years.

ROSA
You’re just finally making it official.

PANEL 5: Perla continues on. However this time the kids are devastated by the rest of the
         news and finally all look at their mother.


PERLA
Also your Aunt Irelanda is moving in with us.

KIDS
WHAT??
